Under16 Girls Naomh BarrÓg v Scoil UI Chonnail 28-April-2013 2013-04-29 21:43:00

Great Result for the U16s today against the previously unbeaten team and league leaders Scoil Ui Chonnail. After last week’s disappointment against St Anne’s the girls had to pick themselves up and face Scoil at home. The opposition had racked up quite a number of big score lines before today so it was going to be difficult. The defence stepped up a notch this week and restricted a fast scoil ui chonnail forward line to 1-2 in the first half with the opposition only scoring a goal with the last kick of the first half.

With the defence playing well it was up to the forwards to chip in with the scores, unfortunately our shooting left a lot to be desired in the first half and we should have had at least 7/8 points on the scores board, ending up with only 3points but the girls never gave up and that’s a credit to them and their attitude in the game.

The 2nd half was a tight affair also but with Emma T playing in a new position at full forward, the girls had a target to aim for. Emma ended up with 2 goals in the 2nd half to seal a 2-6 to 2-3 win. Everyone in the forward line contributed whether it was laying on a chance for a fellow forward or just the tackling of the opposition backline as they tried to clear their lines.

Well done to all.

Anthony and Eddie.
