Clubnotes 4th July 2017   04/07/2017

Saturday night’s Lip Sync fundraiser was a great success on the night thanks to the huge amount of work put in by a large number of people. A big thank you to all competitors who took part, congratulations to the winner Angela Flanagan; to our judges on the night, Joe Harrington, Caroline Harvey and the fabulous Larry “Louis” McCarthy; our hosts, the Artane Beaumont Family Resource Centre, thank you for having us and making us so welcome; our main sponsor, Murdock’s Hardware and our club sponsor, the McHugh group; to those companies who took out ads in the program; to the teams that got behind their paired act with fundraising events; Aubrey Dornan and Joe McGrane (The Management) for manning the door on the night; Daniel Duggan (Kanum Thai) for feeding everyone on Saturday afternoon; the Committee of Sibéal Pepper, Denise Dornan, Jacqui McGrane, Gwen Leahy, Clare Burke, James Nolan, Peter Fitzgerald and Tadhg Foley. Thanks also to Chairman Liam Byrne who deserves a special note of recognition for his role in performing and organising as well as driving the event from the start.

Now that the enjoyable part is over it’s time to get down to business and get the money in as quickly as possible. Anybody with outstanding sponsorship cards or money is asked to contact the committee to arrange collection and handover. If you sold tickets and need to collect money please do so as soon as you can. Again, thanks to everyone who went the extra mile to make this a success.

Very hard luck to Jay Byrne and Josh Rooney and the Dublin Minors who lost out to Kilkenny in the Leinster Minor Hurling Final. In a match where there was very little between the teams, this was a classic example of the importance of goals. We look forward to having the lads playing with the club for many years to come and it’d be hard not to be confident that they can stay in contention for future Dublin squads as well.

This Friday 7th July the Golf Society host an outing to Hollystown GC with tee times from 2 – 3pm, timesheet in bar.

The ticket book for the Leinster Final Áth Cliath v Cill Dara is now open at the club bar, closing at 9pm Sunday. Get your name down early in the week to assist the ticket committee in their efforts to provide this great service.

Entertainment in the Árena this Saturday will have a crooning vibe with Frankly Bublé taking to the stage with a 25-piece swing orchestra and trapeze artists. Or, just Frankly with his fabulous voice and a fantastic songbook to plunder.

The football Summer Camp in underway but there are still places available for next week’s hurling/camogie camp. The FINAL day for registration is on Saturday from 10am till noon.

There will also be an Elite Coaching Academy for U13s to U16s on three days of the following week and registration is still open for that. This is aimed at older players and really is a step beyond summer camps. Coaching will be by inter-county players and they will cover a range of topics such as nutrition, attitudes to training and improvement, recovery, hydration, etc. Well worth the effort and a real aid to helping players reach their potential.

The mentor’s meeting is on Wednesday at 9pm, please make sure that your team is represented.

There was no winner of last week's Lotto Jackpot; numbers drawn were 3, 11, 14 & 21. This week’s Jackpot will be €4,000.

Congratulations to former player Gareth Young who married Jennifer McLoughlin on Friday. Another candidate for the Married team on Stephen’s Day!
