Clubnotes 7th February 2017   27/03/2017

The main pitch is still out of bounds due to the obvious waterlogging. Please don’t be tempted to use the periphery as we all know that nobody ever stays outside the course when doing laps. Corners inevitably get cut and pitches get cut-up. A huge amount of work goes into maintaining the pitch so why let that go to waste?

For insurance purposes, ALL teams taking part in Challenge matches are advised that they must apply, through the Club Secretary only for permission to take part in a challenge game at least 72 hours before throw-in time.

Not a million miles away from the objectives of the Healthy Clubs Programme is the subject of suicide and its effect on those left behind. Tomás Mulligan achieved his dream of playing for the Dublin senior footballers in 2002/2003 but despite this and for reasons unknown he subsequently took his own life. Tomás’ family have been involved with fundraising for Pieta House in the years since his passing, specifically in organising sponsored cycle trips. This week the GAA website has published an informative and compelling article on Tomás and the affect his passing has had on his family and friends. The article is well worth reading and I hope you can take the time to have a look.

This week sees the anniversaries of two club stalwarts, John Ring and Paul Barragry. There will be a mass for John on Saturday evening at 6:30pm while Paul’s mass will be on Sunday morning at 9:30. It would be nice if we could keep the lads and their families in our thoughts in the coming days and weeks.
